Forget Again

I draw and paint all the time – almost every day.
I am trying to loosely connect memories to form new ideas.
On this screen i can draw and paint in the car or at the doctor’s office.
I then like to set these digital drawings to music.

Lilliana asked me to make a music video for her song.
Her song is fairly abstract so I wanted the drawings to be as well.
I selected drawings that least represented tangible things.
The lines felt like sounds look – when you close your eyes.

As I was completing the video I discovered what it was about.
It was about memory and fading memory – even trying to forget.
I have always liked the relationship between creativity and memory.
These two systems are very closely tied together in the human brain.

My lines become synapsis in the brain, neural networks.
Systems form, break, reform, strengthen, and are easily wiped away.
Some are later recalled and stored more permanently – recorded.
All the while a throbbing blur of an idea persists in the background.
Eventually, unfortunately, the idea is lost.
It never gets captured, recorded or jotted.
The memory of it fades.
I forget – again
